Africa

Hey everybody! This will happily and proudly be my first blog post my travel blog. Enjoy!

First off, let me tell you guys a bit about why I went to Africa. It’s really pretty simple, my mother has a friend that owned a house in South Africa that she has visited 3 different times now. Me being an avid traveler, always interested in new places (like so many other people) I was of course jealous every time she went. One night when my mother and I were out at one of our favorite restaurants enjoying dinner talking about traveling and where we wanted to go next. I brought up her friend asking when she usually goes, what the flights are like, how the weather is etc. I expressed interest (or really straight up said if you go again take my ass with you) and planted the seed. At that point all I could do was wait and hope.

Lo and behold, one night I was driving around with a couple friends looking for a brewery to hit and have a couple beers when I got a text. It was from my mother and said “Do you still want to go to Africa?” My friends, having some existential/spiritual argument got suddenly and loudly interrupted by a scream from me. I wont lie, I felt high for the rest of the night just on the prospect of going to Africa. Unfortunately, my mother’s friend had a change of plans and ended up selling the house but that wasn’t going to stop us. I wanted to go and I know my mother wanted to show me around.

Fast forward to the next May, me and my mother had our bags packed, vaccine cards ready and up to date (not here to debate the vaccine I needed that shit to travel and I was not going to be stopped) and we were on our first flight to Atlanta to get ready for a 15 hour flight to Johannesburg, South Africa, the longest flight I have ever been on in my life.
